What to expect?
We provide baskets to pick in for $3.00 each that hold 5lbs of berries. You keep the basket and can bring it back to pick in next time you come! You are also welcome to bring your own basket also. We also have scissors and flower picking baskets ready for you to pick your own sunflowers.
We do recommend bringing a cooler if you are traveling a ways. We have picnic tables for your family to enjoy your berries and a pre packed lunch (not provided) . We will have some refreshments and snacks for sale, but we always recommend bringing water. As the weather gets hotter we advise people to come early, before the heat. Sunscreen and bug spray can be a handy thing when picking blueberries or strawberries! Always where closed toe shoes, as we have bugs/ants in the field. Some times the strawberry fields may be muddy and rubber boots are the best for picking in! We hope to see yall soon!
Farmer Marsh
Where do I start? Well I am rooted deep in farming. I was raised on a CHRISTmas tree farm. All I knew was farm chores and playing outside. When I was growing up, Saturdays weren’t for sleeping late and playing, we had things to do. Whatever dad was working on we would be a part of! It seemed like there was always something to do around the farm. Now with that said, we did get to spend lots of time playing around as kids! We had a whole 30 acres to roam around on. Fast forward to 18 years old, Dad decided to pass down the farm to me and my sister although, at that time I was more interested in hunting rather than farming or running a CHRISTmas tree farm so I opted to pass the farm onto my brother-in-law and sister. I had noticed that my brother-in-law had a passion for the farm that I lacked. Upon my 19th birthday I moved away from the farm and started my journey as a Fire Truck Mechanic. I never though twice about the farm, nor did I miss it. A year passed and I married my high school sweetheart. We purchased a house in Lindale, TX in town. That year God told me to eat from the earth for 30 days, so I did. And that is when I grew my first garden! (Well, lots of weeds😉). After my little garden I realized I loved to grow things! I then decided to grow a small Purple Hull Pea patch at my parent’s farm, 1/8th of an acre and we produced 35 bushels of peas! After that I was really hooked. Then, Addie wanted to go pick strawberries at a local farm. I didn’t even know that was a thing! As we were picking, I looked at Addie and said “We could do this”. I went home from there and began researching U Pick Strawberries. I found Farmer Dre on YouTube and decided to plant 10,000 strawberries in 2020! We planted the Strawberries on my Grandpas Blueberry Farm (Tyler Berry Farm). As the season progressed with strawberries the opportunity came up to take over the berry farm! And that is where we are now! Shortly into 2021 Strawberry season we sold our house in Lindale and moved to the farm! Thanks to Kent and Juanita Wiggins (Memaw and Pops) our dreams were able to come true!
Farmer Addie
Marshal and I have very similar personalities but have very different backgrounds. I grew up mostly in the city (of Lindale) but regularly visited my Grandparents farm where my cousins and other family members lived, my grandpa raised cattle on that land and my Great grandpa loved to grow things and had multiple gardens including a muscadine grape garden I unfortunately never got to meet him and the only other farmer in my family is my great uncle “cactus Jack” he has road side stand on 69 towards Mineola and we have learned a lot from him for sure. For me, farming looks like (social media/ contacting buyers for our products but also enjoy the satisfaction of being able to grow things from seed/root. I am out helping marshal as much as I can being a new mom trying to figure out the perfect mix while patiently waiting for Mabel to be able to play in the dirt! But what I’ve found lots of Joy in is canning what we harvest and all the fun that comes with having fresh veggies all year round as well as blessing others with a tasty treat! As someone who grew up only using the grocery store to provide for us I realized how much that should change come 2020 when marshal an I first started our own garden. We were about to out grow our backyard garden in the city when we felt like moving to the farm was where God was calling us to. Moving to the Farm was an easy decision for me, I love being out here and escaping to our little place where we are blessed to be able to raise our children. We pray for this place to be a place where people are at peace as much as we are when they are here and that is the constant comment we here and love that we are able to be that place for families.
